Obituary

Susan Lynn Echols, 72, passed away peacefully at her home in Orem, UT on June 24, 2018. Suzi was born on March 31, 1946 in Oakland, CA. She was raised in various small towns in Northern California. Suzi developed a love and true skill of sewing. She attended Brigham Young University and served as a seamstress for the BYU Madrigals. Suzi returned home to Santa Rosa, CA where she met full-time missionary, Elder Echols. Suzi and the Elder remained in touch upon his return to his home in Arizona from his LDS mission. Suzi and Garren were married on December 15, 1966. They lived in the Phoenix area and raised their four children: Dawn, Andrew, Julie, and Garren Jr. They lived in Arizona for 30 years. Suzi hated the hot weather and she remarked often that every summer she spent in Phoenix was 7 years off her potential time in hell. Suzi worked most of her life alongside Garren, running the financial side of their business. Suzi loved genealogy and she worked in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple. She loved to travel and enjoyed cruises with Garren. Her greatest joy came from being a grandmother to 17 grandchildren. She loved to see them do their various activities. Suzi is survived by her husband, Garren, and her children Dawn (Eric) Farr, Andrew (Rachel) Echols, Julie (Karsten) Walker, and Garren Jr. (Debra) Echols. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Sarah, Kayla, Eric Spencer, Jacob, Jayson, Jonah, Audrey, Neveah, Tobias, Bryn, Chloe, Nathan, Hailey, Brooke, Jaxon, Bennett, and Shelby. A viewing will be held on Friday, June 29th from 6pm to 8pm at the LDS Church located at 140 North 400 West, Orem, UT. The funeral for Suzi will be held Saturday, June 30th at 11am with a viewing from 9:30am to 10:30am. The Echols' family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Banner Baywood Medical Center, Stonehenge of American Fork, and Davita Dialysis Center.
