Obituary

Susan Lynn Odle passed away peacefully at her home on November 27th, 2025, at the age of 83. Susie lived with Dementia and Alzheimer's for approximately 4 years. Although this caused her frustration as she declined, she never complained. For a woman who devoted her life to caring for her family, it felt incredibly special for her to pass on Thanksgiving surrounded by her loved ones.

Susie was born on July 22nd, 1942, to Richard Kisselburg and Mary Bazsali in Elgin, Illinois. She was the second child with one older sister, Carol, and one younger brother, Richie. It was in middle school that she met and began dating her beloved husband Phil. They remained sweethearts throughout high school and eventually married on September 29th, 1962. Susie and Phil spent 44 beautiful years together before his unexpected passing in 2006. What a joyful reunion they must have had after 19 years apart.

Susie and Phil moved to Utah in 1965 for Phil to play football at BYU. Susie was a constant support to Phil as he played at BYU and later in the NFL with the Detroit Lions. Their first child, Matthew, was born just before Phil began playing in Detroit. Susie enjoyed traveling with her husband and son during those years, especially when it brought them closer to family in Chicago. Their second child, Stephanie, was born at the end of Phil's NFL career, after which they settled permanently in Orem, Utah.

Susie's career was spent working in the medical field. She began as the business manager for brothers Richard S. and Craig Clark, where she worked with many wonderful people who became lifelong friends. After the Clark Clinic closed, she worked for over 25 years as the Administrative Assistant at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center before retiring at the age of 70.

Susie loved a good bargain and never met a sale she could resist! She enjoyed shopping and buying cute plates, candles, and other collectibles. An avid gardener, she took great pride in her yard and immaculate home. Susie also loved serving others and was rarely seen without a smile. But what brought her the greatest joy was her husband, children, and grandchildren.

Susie was preceded in death by her husband, Phil; her father, Richard Kisselburg; her mother, Mary Lathrop; her stepfather, Robert Lathrop; and her younger brother, Richie Kisselburg. She is survived by her sister, Carol Beebe; her children, Matthew (Julie) and Stephanie Odle; and her grandchildren, Cole Odle, McKenzie Nelson, and Claire (Chase) Riding, whom she spoiled with unconditional love.

The family wishes to express sincere love and gratitude to Natalie Abbott Odle for her devoted care while living with Susie this year. Because of her support, Susie was able to stay in the home she loved until her passing. The family would also like to thank Dr. Richard Olsen for the many years of loving, attentive treatment he provided. In Susie's last few weeks and days, Cornerstone Caregiving and Symbii Hospice provided care, comfort, and compassion for both Susie and her family.
