Obituary

Susannah Helvy was born on June 22, 1989 in Provo, Utah, the oldest child of Ray L. and Ruth A. Helvy. She was a delightful child and was very smart. Her Grandma Joan Conn taught her to climb trees and play old maid. She loved going to the Wickerd Farm and visiting her family in California.

Many things were difficult for Suzannah. At 15 she was diagnosed as being on the Autistic Spectrum and having non-verbal learning disorder, but she didn't let that define who she was. She wrote poetry and read voraciously, loved drama, anime', and sitting with her mother's Disney song book and singing all the songs she knew.

She went to Cyprus High School and walked with the graduating class of 2007. She later got her GED from Granite Peaks.

She loved music, social media, and social justice. Anything sparkly or shiny would catch her attention. She enjoyed flowers and good movies. Her wicked sense of humor and her laugh will be loved and remembered by her family and friends.

She had a great love for animals and always had a cat or dog to enjoy. She adored her cats, Abby and Lucy. They were emotional support animals for her. She loved and needed them very much. Since Abby was mostly black she loved silhouettes of black cats and promoted their welfare and protection.

Her love of quirky characters, fantasy, and humorous things is well-known. She loved The Lord of the Rings, Grumpy Cat and grumpy old ladies. In many ways she was a young grumpy old lady. She wanted things to be seen as they are. She wanted people to be comfortable with who they are and not apologize.

Suzannah's health issues prevented her from doing many things, but she did lovely cross stitch bookmarks and enjoyed giving those to her family. She enjoyed gaming and spent a lot of time on social media. Many people got to know her through her thoughtful posts and comments. She was a deep thinker and a prolific writer. She posted a lot of her poetry on online sites.

She had a concern for others and helped out where she could. She liked to babysit for her friends and sometimes helped them at work. She was a great listener when she felt well enough to be present.

Suzannah worked briefly at Savers and at Deseret Industries for several years. She really enjoyed what she did there. She also enjoyed the people she worked with.

Suzannah passed away on May 20, 2024 in her family home. She is survived by her parents Ruth and Ray Helvy, her siblings Russell, Michael and Bryan Helvy, her grandfather, George LeRoy Baker, and her Aunt Thelma Baker. She has other uncles, aunts and cousins and friends that will also miss her.
