Tammy Ann Starley, 62, passed away Tuesday, May 5th, 2026 in Provo Utah surrounded by her loved ones – due to complications caused by cancer. She exhibited great steadfastness, bravery, and kindness to the very end.
Tammy was born in Sunnyvale California on the 20th of June 1963, to George and Carolyn Schneider. She was christened in the Roman Catholic Church on August 4, 1963. Tammy graduated from North Monterey County High School in 1982 and later attended Hartnell College. Tammy began competitive swimming at the early age 5 years old. She competed on many swim teams until her final year in college. She also participated in Volley Ball in High School and College. Learning from her grandmother, Tammy took a keen interest in quilting, starting her first quilt when she was 10. Later, she would to create countless baby quilts for
family and friends. She committed to creating quilts for every Starley grandchild upon their marriage – only missing a few. Her quilts became of symbol of her love – a token that one could wrap themselves up with.
In 1976, Tammy became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She dedicated her life to the church, with unwavering faith. Tammy was married to her husband Alan James Starley in the Provo Temple in 1991. Tammy later gave birth to two sons: Michael and Nathan. In 1999, her husband passed away. After his death, Tammy raised her two sons with tireless devotion to their upbringing. Tammy had three grandchildren, Zander, Zadakai, and Zane – which she also devoted her life to caring for.
Tammy was predeceased in death by her parents George and Carolyn, her baby brother Daniel, and her husband Alan. She is survived by 6 siblings, 2 children, and 3 grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 15th, 2026 at 11:00 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel, 50 S 800 E, Orem, UT 84097. Friends may call from 09:45 – 10:30 am prior to the funeral service.
Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery – attendance by invitation only.
