Obituary

Tara Victoria Nelson

May 21, 2021 - October 9, 2021

Tara Nelson passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 9th surrounded by family and friends. She was born in Seattle, Washington on May 21, 1969, to Vicki and John McRae. While growing up in Seattle she developed many lasting friendships and was always a driving force with her group of friends and family.

She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served a mission in Atlanta, George where she touched the lives of many people, especially her companions. After returning home from her mission she moved to Utah and attended Utah Valley University where she received an associate's degree.

She met her future husband, Kurt Nelson, in the Fall of 1993 and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 1, 1994. Shortly after they were married Tara was diagnosed with MS and began a 27-year journey that brought many physical and mental challenges to her life. She always had a positive outlook. She never let her MS limit or hold her back from living a full life, especially when it came to her family. She courageously brought three children into this world, Victoria, Alison, and Zack. She loved them with all her heart, and they gave her her greatest joy and happiness.

Her husband, children, and many family and friends were privileged to help and serve her throughout her life, especially during the last stages of her MS. Tara always made friends with those she met. She was the life of the party and had a beautiful, radiant smile. She loved going to Disneyland, reading books, and watching movies. She was the queen of sass and always brought so much laughter and happiness to her family and friends. We will all miss Tara very much.

She is survived by her husband, children, son-in-law Devin, her mother Vicki, her brother Rourk, and numerous other family members. She was preceded in death by her father John. A viewing will be held Friday, October 15th from 6:00-8:00 pm at the 29th ward building at 1050 N 300 W, Mapleton. A graveside service will be held Saturday, October 16th at 1:00 pm at Mapleton Cemetery, 620 West Maple Street, Mapleton. Following the graveside service, there will be an open house held at the Nelson residence from 2:00- 8:00 pm.
