On April 19, 2019, our mother, grandmother and friend Tava Lee Toland passed away. Her husband Donnie Ray Toland had proceeded her death one day shy (actually 11 hours) 47 years ago. None of the grand kids had ever met him, but she always made sure they knew him. Tava was widowed very young in life, she finished raising five amazing children all by herself. Grandma Tava had a big bed, so big it usually could sleep her and five or six grand kids in it. She worked so hard all her life. When she wasn't working she was home with her family cooking and keeping house.  Tava (granddaughter) gave the best advice, she made the best pancakes and she listened for hours. She is funny and wise. She grew up in Kansas, born June 11 1933. Tava was a daughter of the dust bowl and lived through segregation. She would often talk about, that if she were with her friends and they weren't allowed to shop someplace, well she wouldn't shop there either and Tava would make it a point to not give them her business again. She loved the Jazz, and she could tell you everything about every player. Tava loved to read, her favorite book was Gone With the Wind. She read a lot of Church books (convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints). We remember her in the kitchen, baking- always with a dish towel on her shoulder always with a big smile on her face and fun story she'd just told. Tava had battled ovarian cancer the past 7 years, and she fought so hard. We have been spoiled to have her after the love of her life had been gone so long.  Go be with him, Donnie - the love of your life and your date for all eternity.  You will never be forgotten and will forever have our hearts. Funeral Services will be Saturday, April 27, 2019, 11:00 a.m. in the Northridge 2nd Ward, 1780 North 165 East, Orem.  Family and friends may visit that morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church.  Interment will be in Orem City Cemetery.  Condolences and memories may be shared with the family online at www.walkersanderson.com.
