Thomas Hardy McClure, 81, returned to his heavenly father on July 7, 2019 at his home.
Tom was born May 2, 1938 in Vancouver, Washington to David and Josephine McClure. He graduated from Colton high school near Fontana, California and he served a LDS mission in the Western States.
He met his lovely wife, Paula Irmeli Jouste while attending BYU and they were married on December 28, 1963 at the Los Angles Temple. They were fortunate to get to celebrate 55 years of marriage. Tom was blessed with four marvelous children: Will David, Denny James, Minna Helen and Sonja Mabel.
He holds a BS degree from BYU and received a Master's from Michigan State University. As part of an exchange program, he taught political science at the University in Helsinki, Finland. He also taught at North Adams State College. One job he found interesting, was at Williams College in the Roper Center (a center for political polling). He spent many years working as a computer specialist. He worked at WordPerfect and he was trained in Cobol as well. He held many church positions. Tom was a branch president and he was especially fond of teaching Sunday School.
Over the years, he has lived in many pleasant places across the country. One of his favorite locations to dwell was in Williamstown, MA. It was a great accomplishment and it brought him much joy to have a house built in Orem where he has resided for the last 25 years.
Tom enjoyed math, painting, reading, writing poetry, traveling and genealogy. He was always friendly with everyone he met, greeting all he encountered with a warm smile and a handshake. He was good at making word puns and he had a wonderful sense of humor.
