IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Tommy
George
May 26, 1935 – March 24, 2025
Tommy George passed away peacefully on Monday, March 24, 2025, surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He passed away at home, the same homestead where he was born May 26, 1935. That home is where he raised his family and lived his life for nearly 90 years. Tommy's home was a sanctuary for his family and you could always find him serving the best breakfasts, the coziest fires, and the quietest afternoons drinking coffee and talking about fishing. Tommy contracted polio at the age of five and lost the use of his left arm, but he refused to let it define or limit his success. His children often heard, "If I can do it with one arm, you can surely do it with two." He was the strongest man we have ever known. He married the love of his life, Beth Felix George, on February 20,1965 and together they raised four children, Tommy Jr. (Erika), Julie (Jim), Jennie (Craig), Matt (Tara). Their 12 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren were their greatest treasure. He defined what it is to be a man, to be a father, to be a husband. He loved and adored his wife Beth and treated her like gold. When she became ill, he selflessly provided daily care for her until her passing in 2017. Tommy had unwavering loyalty and was as honest as they come. He was a pillar in his community throughout his entire life and served everyone in his path continuously. From delivering gifts to widowed women on Christmas, to offering his own paycheck to help a family have a place to call home. Tommy was proud to serve on the Orem City Police Department Reserve Force for many years. At the time of his death Tommy was the oldest active member of the Provo Elk's Lodge. His successful career in real estate and insurance spanned over 60 years. Tommy was known as a man with incredible integrity, and took great pride in serving his customers, many of which became lifelong friends. Outside of his career he had many talents and hobbies. Tommy was an extremely accomplished musician; he had the voice of an angel. He was the vocalist / drummer in the Tommy George Trio Jazz Band. His love of music also led him to own or manage several night clubs in Utah. His passion for music and acting kept him on the move. Over the span of 65 years, he published six music albums, playing with artists such as Harry Belafonte and Louis Prima. He held various acting roles and most recently starred as "The Lame Man", in the New Testament recreation by the LDS Church. His love for music and service continued in his later years as he volunteered hundreds of hours at various care centers and senior citizen centers throughout Utah County singing and performing his music. Serenading the seniors he met Barbara Mobbs, who became a dear friend and companion to him through the end of his life. Being on the water was his happy place, whether going for a boat ride or fishing with his family and friends. He could turn anyone into a pro fisherman, and often regretted teaching so well that they could out fish him. Tommy was a devout Catholic and lived a God centered life. As a member of the St. Francis Parish, he played an integral part in relocating the church from its original Provo location to its new location in Orem. Tommy yet again offered his musical talents leading the St. Francis choir for many years. Up until his last days Tommy still had his quick wit, love for life and weekly fishing trips to Deer Creek. Tommy's family would like to express their immense gratitude to all the hospice nurses and doctors, especially Alys and Annette, who cared for and genuinely loved Tommy in his last weeks. He will be missed enormously, but we know he is watching over all of us with the love of his life, Beth, by his side. He is preceded in death by his sweetheart Beth, his parents Charles and Nahima George, brothers Sam and William, his sister Mary. Funeral Mass and Services will be held at St. Francis Catholic Church, 65 E 500 N Orem, UT 84057 on April 22nd, 2025 at 11:30 am. Immediately following mass the family would like to invite you to a celebration of Tommy's life and a light luncheon at the church to share memories and celebrate this incredible man.
