Obituary

Vauna Heaton Brown, our dear mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, returned to our Father on July 8, 2017. She passed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones in her home in Orem, Utah. Vauna was born the 16th of September, 1930 in Glenwood Springs, Garfield, Colorado to David Esplin and Idona Gibson Heaton; the second of four children. They lived in Ephram, Hiawatha, and Price. Some of her favorite childhood memories included spending summers on the mountain, in a tent, while her father herded sheep. She met her sweetheart, Daniel Walter Brown, while attending Brigham Young University. They were married and sealed in the Salt Lake City, Utah temple on the 15th of August, 1952 by Ezra Taft Benson. They started their lives together in Ogden, Utah then moved Salt Lake where Dan attended the University of Utah. In August of 1960, they moved to California where they spent 34 years. In 1994 they moved to Oregon. Dan passed away in 2008 and Vauna moved back to Utah in March of 2014. Vauna lived a life full of service in the community and as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She fulfilled many callings as well as a mission with her husband Dan to Australia. She was an active scout leader, talented seamstress, and devoted wife and mother. One of her passions was making teddy bears for her grandchildren and for as many great grandchildren and friends as she was able. She is preceded in death by her husband Daniel Brown, older brother Orlande Heaton, and grandson Jason Brown. She is survived by her brothers Garold and Garth Heaton, children: Daniel Von Brown, Chad (Cheryl) Brown, DanaLee (Perry) Stevenson, Kelly (Lisa) Brown, Kyle (Pam) Brown, Layne (Jennie) Brown, 18 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren with two on the way.
