Vernice Curtis Mayer 1924 - 2017 "Together Again" Vernice Curtis Mayer passed away September 18, 2017 at South Ogden Post-Acute (SOPA) nursing facility in South Ogden, Utah. She was born in Declo, Idaho on July 14, 1924 to George and Minnie Curtis. She attended school in Pleasant Grove, Salem, and Spanish fork. She married Glen Mayer on February 1, 1947. Later they were married in the temple for time and all eternity. Together they raised four children: Judy, Carma, Robert, and David. They took the children fishing, hunting, water skiing, and taught them all to dance. Vernice has been a caring person all of her life and wanted the best for her children. She loved to sing and dance. Vernice worked in elementary school lunch for several years. She was a member of The Daughters of Utah Pioneers and belonged to various square-dancing clubs. Vernice and Glen served a mission to St. Louis, Missouri, and also served as ordinance workers in the St. George temple while living in Kanab. At Cove Point in Provo, Vernice made birthday cakes for the residents. At SOPA she loved participating in the crafts and all the activities. She tried to make friends with everyone and help others who had problems. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband and son David, daughter Judy, son-in-law Richard Jacobson, 2 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. She is survived by her children: Carma Jacobson of Spokane, WA, Robert (Marilyn) Mayer of Clinton, UT, and Nancy Mayer (Daughter-in-law) of Helena, MT. She also leaves behind 18 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren, and 3 great-great-great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be Friday, September 22, 2017, 2:00 p.m. at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home. Family and friends may visit from 1:15 - 1:45 p.m. Interment will be at Orem City Cemetery, 1520 North 800 East. Special thanks to Brighton Hospice and all the CNA's and nurses at SOPA that have taken such good care of her for almost 8 years.
