Obituary

Vicki Hepworth Crabb lost her valiant fight with cancer on Tuesday March 6, 2018 surrounded by her family.  She was born on September 5, 1955 in Richland, Benton, Washington to John Leonard Hepworth and Caryl Wilma Peterson.  Her motto in life was: "I'm as old as Disneyland and just as fun!" Vicki grew up in Brigham City, Utah attending Bunderson and Foothill Elementary Schools, Box Elder Junior High School and Box Elder High School, graduating as a Box Elder Bee in 1973.  She then went on to obtain her associate's degree from Brigham Young University. She married and was sealed to Ralph Charles Crabb on April 18, 1975 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  After supporting Ralph through school and having three children, Vicki had a desire to finish her degree.  Ralph supported her and she graduated with a bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University in Family Sciences in August of 1982.   After Ralph's graduation, the family settled in Orem where Ralph became a police officer for Orem City and Vicki a full-time wife and mother.  If you asked her she would tell you that was all she ever wanted to be. They had five beautiful children: Kirkham John, Brian Joseph, Kathryn, Gregory James, and Bethany.  They were the joy of her life. Vicki was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings during her lifetime, including President of all three women's auxiliaries, Stake Primary President and Stake Camp Director.  But if you asked her what her favorite callings were, she would tell you singing with the children in Primary and spending time at camp with the Young Women. Ralph and Vicki served a full time service mission from April 2013 to October 2015 at The Heber Valley Camp and loved every single second of being on that sacred mountain, serving the Lord. They loved traveling together in their motorhome and especially going on cruises together having gone on 30 plus cruises all over the world.  Vicki's favorite place was Venice, Italy at night.  Coming home to Utah was also a favorite.  One of the things on her bucket list was to visit all 50 states and she came close. They also loved their Alma Mater, BYU.  They had season football tickets since the expansion of the stadium when Steve Young was quarterback and traveled to many away games supporting their team, including the 1984 Holiday Bowl when the Cougars won the National Championship.  Vicki was a diehard fan, refusing to leave a game early regardless of the score.  Many times she would cross fingers, toes, and eyes hoping for a win.  On the day of the BYU/Miami game in 1990 she lost her voice for two days.  She has requested the Fight Song be played at the cemetery. After all of her children were in school, Vicki worked part time for two pediatricians in Provo, Dr. Daniel A. Johnson and Dr. Joseph M. Johnson.  She enjoyed being surrounded by children and loved the people she worked with. Vicki also crocheted many beautiful items including blankets for all of her children and grandchildren and blessing dresses for her daughters and all of her granddaughters.  This was her stress relief.  She loved to read, loved summer, parades, picnics and fireworks.  But most of all she loved her family. Vicki was preceded in death by her father, John Leonard Hepworth.  She is survived by her sweet mother, Caryl Wilma Peterson Hepworth – Kaysville, Utah, Sisters: Dale Burns (Robert) – Orem, Utah and Diana Bailey (Dennis) – Lehi, Utah. Brothers: Joseph Hepworth(Cyndee) – Kaysville, Utah, James Hepworth(Donna) – Santa Clarita, California and John Hepworth(Jennifer) – Brigham City, Utah.  Children: Kirkham John (Joy) and their children – Hunter, Cassia, Redick and Ewan – Pleasant Grove, Utah.  Brian Joseph (Stefannie) and their children – Rachel, Calvin, Isabel, Josie and Charles – Vernal, Utah.  Kathryn Ratliff (James) and their daughter – Pyper – Orem, Utah. Gregory James – Highland, Utah.  Bethany Renaud (Johnny) and their children – Alanah and Jaxyn – Mandan, North Dakota.  Funeral Services will be Wednesday March 14, 11:00 am at the Aspen Stake Center 965 W 2000 N Orem, Utah.  Friends and family may visit Tuesday March 13, from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home 646 E 800 N Orem, Utah or before the service from 9:30-10:45 am.  Interment will be at the Orem City Cemetery.  Condolences may be offered to the family online at WalkerSanderson.com. The family would like to thank Dr. Nathan Rich and Wendy Robinson for their loving care.
