Vinod "Vin" Himatlal Kamdar, born April 13, 1932, in Limdi, India, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025, at the age of 93. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, remembered for his curiosity, resilience, integrity, and quiet humor.

Vin's early life in Limdi shaped the values he carried throughout his life—discipline, education, and determination. As a young boy, he watched films about Utah's national parks and became captivated by their beauty, a fascination that would later guide a bold and life‑changing journey.

In the 1950s, driven by ambition and a desire to see the world, Vin traveled by boat from India to New York and then by Greyhound bus to Logan, Utah, to pursue his education. He began his studies at Utah State University and later transferred to the University of Southern California, where he earned his degree in accounting and laid the foundation for a career defined by precision, ethics, and service.

Vin spent many years working in accounting and finance in the Los Angeles area while raising his family. In the 1970s, following open‑heart surgery, he sought a quieter life and moved his family to Utah. There, he built a close relationship with the Brigham Young University Accounting Department and founded his own firm, Kamdar & Company. His work was not merely a profession but a calling. He partnered deeply with his clients—many of whom became lifelong friends—and offered expertise across accounting, finance, and the legal dimensions of business. Over the years, he touched nearly every industry, from entertainment and hospitality to farming, mining, retail, and construction.

Vin took special pride in mentoring young accounting interns, holding them to high standards while offering patience and genuine belief in their potential. Many went on to successful careers as managers, partners, and executives, carrying forward the lessons he instilled. He especially loved complex tax work, finding joy in solving the most challenging problems, and he continued working with dedication until the very end of his life.

Those closest to Vin knew him as logical, steady, and deeply grounded, with an unmistakable dry sense of humor. His deadpan delivery—often followed by the slightest smile—was pure Vin. He also carried himself with quiet elegance, appreciating fine clothing, clean lines, and understated sophistication. He entered every room composed, polished, and unmistakably himself.

A true world traveler and bon vivant, Vin explored Russia, China, Africa, tropical islands, and many of the world's great cities. He delighted in exceptional food, fine wine, good conversation, and storytelling. In earlier years, he enjoyed a good cognac; later, wine and his beloved tea became his preference. Above all, he was grateful—for opportunity, for family, and for the life he built with intention and care.

For more than four decades, Vin shared a devoted partnership with his beloved wife, Kiran Patel Kamdar. Their marriage was one of loyalty, affection, and mutual respect—a quiet, enduring love that deepened with time. Together they built a life grounded in steadiness and shared purpose.

Vin is survived by his wife, Kiran; his daughters, Maureen and Valarie Kamdar; and his three granddaughters, Danielle, Jordan, and Hailey, whom he cherished and strongly encouraged, especially in their education. He is preceded in death by his grandson, Andrew, whose memory remained an important and tender part of his heart.

Vin will be remembered as a man whose intelligence was matched by humility, whose discipline was guided by integrity, and whose subtle humor brought warmth to everyday moments. He leaves behind not only a record of hard work and accomplishment, but the enduring legacy of a man who knew exactly who he was—logical, loyal, sharp‑witted, and deeply devoted to his family.
