Virginia Kristofferson Lyman, 95, of Lindon, UT, passed from this life on Saturday, February 22, 2020. She will be missed more than words can say. She was born in Ogden, March 7, 1924, to Barney and Katie Marie Dana Kristofferson. She was the second of six children. At age 11, she and her family made the first of many moves due to the Great Depression. Eventually, they settled in Sacramento, CA were she finished high school. Soon after, she met the love of her life and eternal companion, Jay Rich Lyman. They were married June 9, 1944 in the Salt Lake Temple. After serving 2 years overseas, Jay returned and they settled in the Sacramento area where they raised their family of 3 girls and a boy. Twenty years later they moved to Chico, CA where they lived until they retired to Sonora, CA in 1990. Jay died in 1999 and Virginia moved to Lindon to live with her daughter, Janice.
Virginia was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an excellent singer and was a member of the choir wherever she lived. She loved gardening, reading and enjoyed jigsaw and crossword puzzles. A great cook, she also decorated numerous wedding cakes for friends and family. Among her many talents, above all, she was an accomplished artist. She loved painting, sculpting and quilting.
Virginia was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, her beloved husband and her longtime friend Norma. She is survived by her children: Sharon (Michael) Thurman, Richard (Debbie) Lyman, Debbie (Craig) Smith and Janice (Randy) Stinson; 14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be held Saturday, February 29, 2020 at the Church of Jesus Christ, 731 E. Center Street, Lindon. Viewing will be from 9:30 to 10:30 followed by the service at 11:00 am at the church.
There will be a graveside service at the Fair Oaks Cemetery, 7780 Olive St., Fair Oaks, CA, Monday, March 2 at 1:00 PM.
