Obituary

In loving memory of Vivian Davies McNeil

Vivian Davies McNeil 88, passed away peacefully on May 24th, 2024.

She was born on August 30th, 1935, to Elwood J. and Mae Emery Davies in Provo, Utah.

Growing up in Provo, Vivian enjoyed many outings with her parents, frequently taking hikes to the Y, or simple picnics up South Fork and Vivian Park. Graduating from Provo High School, she possessed the ability to cultivate many friendships.

On May 27th, 1953, Vivian married the love of her life, Gary McNeil, in the Manti LDS Temple, embarking on a journey of companionship that spanned over seven decades. Their bond was a testament to the power of love, enduring through life's joys and challenges.

Gary's passing on December 20th, 2021, left a void in Vivian's heart, but their love continues to transcend the boundaries of time. She missed him greatly.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints, Vivian's faith was the basis of her life. Throughout her journey, she held numerous callings approaching each with humility and dedication to serving others. Her work with youth was especially close to her heart.

Her favorite color is pink. She loved the color so much, she acquired the nick name "Pinky" from a group of young women and it stuck with her for life.

She enjoyed being a Homemaker and mother above all else. As the children grew up and moved away, she found fulfillment in her work at See's Candy, where her cheerful demeanor brightened the lives of her colleagues and customers alike. She loved to give chocolate away.

It was her special relationship with chocolate that added a touch of sweetness to her life. Vivians's love of Hershey's Chocolate was legendary. Her knowledge of the company was so extensive that she knew the Vice Present by First Name, a testament to her passion.

She was an avid bowler and approached the lanes with enthusiasm and skill, finding joy in every game. She won many trophies and even had her own bowling ball, which was pink, bag and shoes and all the things you need to be a competitive bowler.

Vivian enjoyed life and her greatest joy came from her role as matriarch. She leaves behind the legacy of three children: Alan (Kris) McNeil, Sharon (Don) Shaw, and David McNeil. 15 Grandchildren; 36 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great, great grandchild with two more on the way.

Her love knew no bounds and her family was the cornerstone of her existence. Each generation was blessed to have been touched by her wisdom, love and support.

Vivian will be remembered for her warmth, laughter, chocolate and her love of life's simple pleasures.

She will be deeply missed by all who know her.
