Obituary

The world became a little dimmer on July 13, 2024 when our loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend Wayne E Harris left this earthly life. He was surrounded by his family as he returned to a loving Heavenly Father, and his parents who brought him into this world.

Wayne was born April 14, 1943 to Edward and Viola Harris in Orem UT. He attended school in Orem and graduated from Orem High School in 1961.

On July 10, 1963, 61 years ago, Wayne married his sweetheart Lucy Deann Rowley in the SLC Temple. They shared a full and happy life together. After he retired you didn't find one without the other.

Together they had 3 children, 10 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. They were blessed and Wayne made sure everyone knew just how proud he was of his family. Wayne enjoyed watching his grandkids and great grandkids in all their extra curriculars, and cheered them on to the end. He shared his love of the mountains, outdoors, and animals with his family.

Wayne loved working on his farm. Mom sometimes joked that he loved the farm and his goats more than her. But he always made sure to tell her that he loved her more than the chickens. When he could no longer farm he was often found in his recliner, asleep with a YouTube video of farming playing on his phone. He taught his family how to work and play hard, plus the importance of serving others.

Wayne was first a full time firefighter for the Orem Fire Department, he then became a paramedic and later cross trained to be a public safety officer. He served the Orem community from 1969-1998 in the capacity of fireman, paramedic and police officer.

Wayne was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served as a High Priest Group Leader, Elders Quorum Presidency and Sunday School Presidency. He had a strong testimony and wasn't afraid to share it with others.

Later in life Wayne and his sweetheart spent their winters in Quartzsite, Arizona where Wayne spent many hours rock hounding and last year he made rings for all his daughters and granddaughters. They have many dear friends there and we are grateful for them.

Wayne was survived by his wife Deann, 3 children Terri (Glenn), Stephen (Maurina) and Amy (Allen). 10 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren and one brother Reed (Sharon) Harris.

He was preceded in death by his sister Carma Avery, parents Ed and Viola Harris, and son in law Ted Bailey.

The family would like to thank Symbii hospice nurses- Monique, Brooke and Hoiman and aide Kori. Also, Dr. Brandt Esplin and Tammy who treated him like family.
