Obituary

William Lewis Park Jr. Passed away at his home on July 25th of congestive heart failure and other health factors. Bill was born in Salt Lake City on February 21, 1930 to Lydia Walker Park and William Lewis Park. He was educated in Salt Lake School District graduating from South High in 1947. Upon graduation, Bill joined the Navy where he spent four years in Japan and China during the Korean War. After being discharged he remained in Southern California where, in 1953, he was called to serve a mission to the Eastern States. Soon after his mission he met the love of his life, Lois Pixton. Bill and Lois were married on April 1, 1955 in the Salt Lake Temple. They took up residence in southern California where Bill began a career with Sears. During the next 6 years, they had 5 children and moved 6 times. These numerous moves afforded them the opportunity to make many treasured lifelong friends. The transfers with Sears continued to Ogden, Idaho Falls, and then finally to Orem where they settled in 1969 with Bill's appointment to Assistant Manager of the Provo store. Bill retired from Sears in 1989 with 32 years of service. Bill loved music. In addition to being a member of The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, he and Lois sang together for many years. In 1990 Bill and Lois were called to the England London South Mission where they had choice experiences and again made lifelong friends. After their mission they served at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. Bill was called to serve at the Provo Missionary Training Center and served for 8 years in various positions including district president, his favorite calling. As a faithful member of the LDS church, Bill served in many capacities including Bishop and High Councilor. He always found great joy in serving the Lord and his fellow men. Bill had a love for dogs, cars, and building and refinishing furniture. He also loved playing cards with friends and family, enjoying the friendship more than the outcome of the game. Bill loved his family and taught them well the values of integrity, honesty and hard work. He is preceded in death by his sisters Maurine Belnap and Cherie Omer, son Jeffrey, daughter Leslie Carter, and grandson Benjamin Park. Bill is survived by his wife Lois, sons Stewart (Spring), Steve (Pam), Matthew (Jennifer), nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be Monday, July 31, 2017, 11:00 a.m. in the Orem 6th Ward, 365 South 900 East, Orem. Family and friends may visit Sunday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, or Monday morning at the church from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Orem City Cemetery.
